As a fiduciary financial planner, I help you organize your finances and make a plan to transform your six-figure income into financial freedom and peace of mind. - Eric Roberge, CFP®

Eric Roberge is a Boston, MA financial advisor and investment manager. Beyond Your Hammock specializes in financial planning, investment management, and retirement planning to help clients work towards their financial goals at all stages of life. Eric Roberge is a fiduciary financial planner.

I am focused on financial freedom for my clients and for me. I’ve experienced significant income and frivolous spending years; I’ve scraped the bottom of the income barrel and I’ve also built a business from scratch that now allows me to enjoy life.

My goal is to help you achieve financial clarity, make mindful and informed decisions, and use your money as a tool to design a life that you love now and in the future.

10 years ago, at age 27, I made a decision that surprised my friends and family and made a huge impact on my life. I left my comfortable job as an investment analyst to venture out into the unknown. I started my career as an independent financial planner in 2007, right before the economy crashed.

The next few years were financially challenging to say the least, and my situation forced me to pay close attention to my finances. I learned firsthand the difference proper money management can make, and how focusing on the fundamentals can lead to financial success.

After the years I spent in my new career working for several small financial planning firms and developing the right money habits for myself, I realized it was time for me to launch my own company. I founded Beyond Your Hammock to guide motivated professionals in their 30s and 40s to build solid relationships with their money and use the tools available to create financial strategies that actually work.

I now spend my days helping clients organize their finances and create practical financial strategies that provide clarity and peace of mind. I also educate students about the value of money and speak to other financial planners at conferences across the country to transform the way financial advice is delivered in our society.

Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” I’m here to help those who think they can achieve financial freedom actually do it.

{Financial Planning Blog} How to use a ROTH IRA to transform your career?

Published on Aug 11, 2015

Your budget is stretched thin and your finances are being pulled in different directions, yet you have more you want to do. You’re thinking about making a major career change and might need to go back to school. You’re also contemplating launching the business you’ve dreamed of for years. Both options cost money, and adding 10s of thousands of dollars in new loans isn’t an option. Well, if you have a Roth IRA, you might be in luck. Stay tuned to learn how to use your Roth IRA to transform your career. Hi, I’m Eric Roberge, Certified Financial Planner, founder of Beyond Your Hammock. Today I am going to teach you how to use your Roth IRA to transform your career. Lesson 1: Roth IRA contribution withdrawals are allowed at any time Although the Roth IRA was created as a retirement savings tool (and most people should use it as such), your contributions can be taken out at any time. For example, you may be looking to finally launch that new business but don’t have the funding. Tapping your Roth can provide you the liquidity you need to make it happen. Lesson 2: Withdrawal of earnings are allowed for specific reasons without penalty – like paying for higher education expenses - Even though the Roth IRA may be your savings for retirement – it’s still your savings. However, if going back to school will increase your salary, you can use that “extra income ” to “pay yourself back” after using your Roth funds to help you in the short term. You’ll pay ordinary income taxes on these earnings, but you will avoid the 10% early withdrawal penalty. It’s our responsibility to make decisions that will help us live our lives on purpose today, while still planning responsibility for tomorrow. So, quick review… Lesson Number 1 - Roth IRA contribution withdrawals are allowed at any time Lesson Number 2 - Early earnings withdrawals are allowed to fund higher education So now it is time for you to create your future, and start aligning your personal finances with a life you love!
